Gilcrease Museum, a true Tulsa treasure, is just five minutes from downtown Tulsa overlooking the beautiful Osage hills.
Founded by oilman Thomas Gilcrease, the museum boasts the largest and most comprehensive collection of art and artifacts of the American West. The collection includes over 10,000 pieces of fine art, 300,000 anthropological items and over 100,000 archival documents including maps and manuscripts.
The American West gallery holds magnificent pieces from artists like Charles M. Russell, George Catlin, Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Moran, Frederic Remington – including 18 of his 22 bronzes - and many more. The Enduring Spirit exhibit features American Indian art from across the continent and showcases the work of artists like Woody Crumbo and Willard Stone. Gilcrease Museum’s interactive Kravis Discovery Center allows visitors to get up close to some of the museum’s collection and allows for research by all ages.
While at the museum, visit the Osage Restaurant and walk through themed gardens that sprawl over 23 of the museum’s 460 acres. Also, stop by the Museum Shop which offers gifts, jewelry, literature and other novelties to highlight your visit.
Gilcrease holds numerous public programs throughout the year for both children and adults including workshops, lectures, films and much more.
